It has nice sights and a good bore, it should be a joy at the range. 1 that has been re-barreled with a new Numrich 28″ octagonal barrel chambered for. The rifles were so successful that smaller framed variants were produced for sporting purposes. The robust single-shot rifles are known for inherent accuracy and strength beyond the call of duty. Our Assessment: Remington’s Rolling Block large frame military arms were in service from 1867 to 1918, spanning the American Civil War and World War One. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards. Mechanics: The action functions correctly. The rifle rates in about Very Good condition. The screwheads are tool marked with serviceable slots. The Remington markings are shallow and some have been drilled through, the Numrich markings are clear. For the action, I pieced together over the past few years new and used parts from Remington’s now discontinued Custom Shop RB1 rifle line. The top tang has custom drilled holes and there is a blindly filled hole. I built a custom Remington 1 Rolling Block Long Range Target Rifle, using original rifles as a baseline and deviating slightly to fit my needs and vision. The receiver has finish loss, a few light scabs, patches of discoloration from previous oxidation, and some areas of erosion.
There are a few little spots of oxidation on the barrel. Some of the scuffs have lightly thinned the finish. There are some scattered little nicks and light scuffs on the barrel. The barrel has some scratches, the most noticeable are on the right side. Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 70% of its met finish. The stocks rate in about Very Good condition.įinish Originality: Original, the barrel is not original to the receiver.īore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. The plate has finish loss, some light erosion, and some light scabs. The LOP measures 13 1/2” from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttplate. There is also another line on the bottom of the stock that runs rearwards from the back of the tang. The buttstock has a splice repair on the comb and there is a seam line on the top of the wrist that runs from the tang to where the repair starts.
The bottom of the forend has a small crack at the frame. There are some scattered compressions, dings, and a few light scratches. Stock Configuration & Condition: The stock set is smooth walnut with a straight grip, straight comb, and smooth metal buttplate. The top tang is installed with a fully adjustable flip-up peep sight. The rear sight is a “V notch elevator sight dovetailed into the barrel. Sights / Optics: The front sight is a globe sight with a post insert and is dovetailed into the barrel. U.S.A.” above patent dates, some of the markings are drilled through and gone. The top tang is marked “REMINGTONS, ILION, N.Y.
